2 Childhood Fears:
1.) Gorillas
Yeah, laugh all you want. It all started one Halloween in Schulenburg when we went on a hayride around town to trick or treat. I must have been 3 or 4 years old. There was an older boy dressed up as a gorilla. None of the other costumes bothered me, but this gorilla one did. I was horrified. My mom kept saying, "Kim, there's someone under there. It's not real." and I just kept on screaming! LOL! To this day, I can't stand Halloween and all that comes along with it. I'm a total grinch about it. I think people dressing up in costumes is just stupid. I don't understand all of the hoopla surrounding it either. I'd just rather put my kids to bed without any candy and call it a night. I guess that one bad experience totally ruined things forever.
To make matters worse, I had yet another gorilla encounter in Schulenburg soon after that. We would go to the Schulenburg Festival parade every year and the Shriners out of Houston came and one of their floats was a big cage with a gorilla in it. By the time the float got to where we were sitting, the cage was open and the gorilla was gone. He was roaming the streets shaking peoples' hands and scaring the living daylights out of little kids. Everyone knew how I hated gorillas, so they were like, "Hey buddy, come over here!" Niiiiiice. Gotta love family that's looking out for you. :(
2.) The "Boogie Man"
To this day, I have no idea who the "boogie man" is/was. I just used to always hear, "The boogie man is gonna come get you if you don't behave." WTF? What's amazing is what parents can make up to scare little children AND the fact that the little children will believe anything they say! We were so naive. We weren't those kids that said, "You're just making that up....there is no boogie man!" Nope. We were stupid. Richard has even told Kyra that if she doesn't eat right, the "junk monster" will come and get her. She believed in the "junk monster" for about a week. Now she refers to her daddy as the "junk monster". *sigh*
So if anyone knows who the "Boogie Man" is and what he does, please let me know. ;)
***I tag anyone else who reads my blog who hasn't participated in this one yet.
