I adore this restaurant!

I have never been to Jaime's here in Austin, but the local news did a story on the restaurant tonight and talked about how they encourage breastfeeding mothers to come and eat there. They want to start a trend and hope other restaurants in Austin will follow their lead! I'm overjoyed because finally a restaurant "gets it". Here's a pic of a sign that they have out front that was on the news and that's on their website!

Susan, it's located between 8th and 9th streets on Red River across from Stubb's. I've been in that area many times and never noticed it before. :(

That is great! I wish more restaurants would stand up and do that...

They don't allow breastfeeding in public in Austin? I don't think anyone should deny your child's right to eat.

It isn't like you are whipping out your breasts and playing squirt guns with breast milk! At least, I hope not....

Lynda, it is a mother's right to feed her baby whenever and wherever she wants to (or the baby wants to!). It IS horrible that it is frowned upon because it is the most natural thing in the world. I think that that it's great that this restaurant is showing its support to nursing mothers. A few years ago, there was a restaurant in Round Rock (north of Austin)that asked a nursing mom to leave. It was big news around here. I'm not sure if the woman filed a lawsuit, but she very well could have. It's her right to nurse her baby anywhere.
