Christmas Recap 2005
Well folks, we made it. We're home. I finally get to sleep in my own bed tonight. YAY. I can't wait. The kids are in bed and I'm on the verge of passing out from exhaustion. Thank God I don't have a lot of things to do this week. I want to rest and take naps whenever possible.
Let's see. Where did the fun begin? Oh yeah. Richard worked Friday night. I was doing so good with packing and getting things ready for Saturday (even had stuff in the burb!). I was thrilled to get Maeve in bed and was hoping that Kyra would go to bed somewhat early so that "Santa" could come. I put Kyra in her bed and she said her prayers. I had just turned the light out when I heard the most gawd awful noise. Yep. It's Holiday Vomitfest 2005! It was everywhere. I put her in the bathtub and washed EVERYTHING on her bed. Mind you, it's about 10:00 when all of this happens. I put her in front of the TV and let her watch a few shows with a bowl and a towel right next to her. I then talked her into sleeping in my room on the floor in her sleeping bag. I PRAYED that it was a fluke and set out the Santa gifts and finally went to bed. I slept like crap because I was sick with worry that we'd end up staying home and not go anywhere.
Richard walked in the door on Saturday morning and got Kyra up. Santa had come. Boy what excitement! Maeve slept in (LOL!) and didn't wake up till about 30 minutes later. So, Kyra got to open up gifts on her own. I loved hearing, "This is exactly what I wanted!" Ahhhhh....pure bliss. You'd never know that she was sick the night before. A fluke! GREAT!
Maeve and Richard both had a morning nap on Saturday morning before we left. We packed up our house (I'm not kidding) and left for La Grange around noon. Between Bastrop and Smithville, Kyra pukes again. Luckily, I had the huge bowl and the towel along. No more cookies for that kid. I gave her strict instructions to eat crackers and bread for the rest of the day.
Christmas Eve was nice. Maeve was hugely fussy though because toofie #4 had just come through that morning and it was a top one. Ugh. She also had a stuffy nose (still does). Amidst all of the activity, she DID NOT want to nap. We opened gifts with my mom's side. We draw names every year, so it's always fun to see what everyone gets. The girls got the motherload of toys and clothes. We ate some pork steaks with delicious sides! That night everyone left early and even Richard, the girls, and my dad went to bed early, so Lisa, Nathan, and I chatted around the fire pit till all hours. *yawn*
Christmas Day came and it's also my dad's birthday. So we left La Grange around noon and headed to Victoria. Lisa and Nathan brought their washer boxes to my dad's, so they played that. Maeve took and nap and so did I. That evening, we grilled hot dogs and enjoyed the hot ass weather. Then we opened gifts. Again, the girls got too much stuff. That night my sister had a ton of friends over for what seemed like the St. Joseph class of 1998 reunion. LOL!
Then yesterday happened. It was a calm day till around noon. We were supposed to be at Richard's grandparents' house in Austwell around 1:00. It takes about 30 minutes to get there from Victoria. It's noon and I'm loading things in the car. The night before, I asked Richard to take the gifts out of the burban for fear of someone breaking in our vehicle and stealing them (I have a thing about vehicles being left unlocked at night). So, he does that. He sets the trashbags full of gifts in the garage (can you see where I'm going with this?). Well yesterday was trash pick-up for my dad. My doting father never thought to ask us what was in those trash bags, so guess what? Yep, he pitched them. The garbage comes and gets them. We were leaving and I ask Richard, "What happened to those bags with the gifts?" All of a sudden I hear "Uh oh." I started flipping out. I mean REALLY flipping out. I spent all of that time and energy on gifts for 5 people (Richard's nieces and nephews and his mom). I can't stop crying. My dad feels horrible and apologizes like 50 billion times. I cry more. Then my dad leaves the house. I am still crying and tell Richard, "Well, we can't go to your grandparents' house without any gifts." So Richard and I head to Target. We are there on the WORST day. It's jam packed. We buy some bags and in the meantime, my dad calls and says, "I found the garbage truck! I'm following it to the dump and will salvage what I can." O.M.G. Richard and I go back to my dad's and Kyra joyfully proclaims that indeed she got to open all of their gifts! LOL! The shirts were all fine. The photography and the calendar for Richard's mom were not. No biggie. We put the shirts in bags and headed to Austwell. Little did we know that there was more fun to be had!
First off, I must say that there's always been bad blood between Richard's dad and his grandparents. This goes waaaaaay back. I've heard stories. Richard's dad didn't make amends with his parents till he was on his deathbed. It was all very sad. Since then, it's been understood that we'd try to be nice to these people. A few suggested that we have Christmas at their house this year. Fine. I had to pull Richard's teeth to get him to agree to go, but we did. We get there a little late and were happy to find out that Richard's sister wasn't even there yet. Saweeeet! I walk in and immediately see the motherload of gifts and I SWEAR that I was thinking to myself, "We'll be here till tomorrow unwrapping all of this!" We ate and Richard was very concerned about what he was eating. He wanted to know who made what for fear of being drugged I guess. Also, this house was starting to freak me out. It's like NOTHING has been touched since 1962. Very weird. Very scary. I didn't want to lay Maeve down anywhere to change her. I would have gone back to the car to do that. I'm serious. Anyway, we start unwrapping gifts and we unwrapped Beanie Baby after Beanie Baby after Beanie Baby from Richard's grandmother. They were for us adults too. It was ridiculous. I bet we got 50 (no that's not a typo) Beanie Babies. Ugh. The kids got awesome gifts from Grandma Debbie, Uncle Jerry, and Aunt Marie and Uncle Matt. But the whole Beanie Baby thing really ruined the good gifts. Honestly, it was absurd. It took us 2 1/2 hours to unwrap all of that crap. Richard left some on the back of the boat for sale! PIMP! We packed up and left. Richard was driving and I was scared for my life. He was *that* ticked off. I mean come on! You have money, so buy some NICE gifts! And telling everyone to "Slow down!" was pitiful. We would have been there till 6 this morning if everyone would have unwrapped one by one. It was baaaaaad. Richard was making me laugh on the way home and said, "Give me a Beanie Baby." I asked, "Why?" He said, "Just give me one!" What did he do next? Yup. He started throwing them out the window! I bet that they saw them this morning. LOL! He kept saying, "What did they do? Rob a McDonald's to get all of these?" He told his mom this morning what he did and she nearly died she was laughing so much. That's Richard for ya.
We came back today with the motherload of gifts. I called the girls' Godparents to see what they were doing on the way back and they were about 5 miles ahead of us on the road, so they came back here to the house and gave the girls their gifts and Kyra and Jake got to play for a bit. I'm so beat and am ready to get back into a routine! My house is a wreck, but I don't care. My girls are happy. Kyra is extremely excited over the fishing pole that daddy got her and the portable DVD player that Papoo got her.
And I love the new Christmas Carol that Melissa made up on Alien's blog...."Oh holy shit, we have too many presents...."
Exactly.

A Christmas baby....
My friend Anna called me this morning. She had her baby yesterday evening. Little Jocelyn Grace was born by c-section around 5:30 last night. She weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. and was a little over 19 inches long! A peanut!
Anna sounded so great on the phone. I could tell that she's very excited. It looks like she'll be coming home on Christmas Day!
This isn't the end of the baby circle. Up next: My friend Emily in January!

My "niece" and "nephew".......
It's just a little crush....
For those that don't know the soap world, this is Tom Pelphrey of "Guiding Light". I found a banner with a picture of him that I liked, so I posted it here. Yummy huh? I've always thought that he looks a bit like Keanu Reeves, though I've never really cared for Keanu Reeves. Tom is different though. ;)
I am Prancer....
You Are Prancer |
Why You're Naughty: Because you're Santa's pet, and you won't let anyone show you up. Why You're Nice: You have the softest fur and the sweetest carrot breath. |

Questions!
What were you doing 10 years ago? I was probably very grateful to have my 1st semester of college out of the way. Other than that, I don't remember much.
What were you doing a year ago? Still teaching 2 classes a week, working for a photographer, getting ready for Miss Maeve to arrive. My tummy was growing by leaps and bounds. On December 15th of last year, we found out that we were having a girl. That was very exciting!
5 snacks you enjoy? Cream cheese on crackers, popcorn, yogurt, peanuts, and the occassional chips and salsa
5 songs you know all the lyrics to: This is sad. The only ones that are popping into my head are the theme songs to children's shows. I know the ones from Dora, Dragontales, Cyberchase, Maya and Miguel, and Spongebob. *sigh*
5 things you would do if you were a millionare: Buy Richard the mother of all bass boats, pay off all debt, set aside a HUGE amount of $$$ for the kids for college, buy a house on the lake, and take a trip around the world.
5 bad habits: I sometimes drive with my knee (bad, bad habit), I snack in front of Kyra (Richard is also guilty of this....we are trying to get her to eat better), I've cussed in front of Kyra (again, Richard also guilty), I tend to clean up after two people (guess who?) that need to learn how to clean up after themselves, I wash things that are lying on the floor....clean or not (in fact, I'm obsessive about this)
5 things I like doing: Blogging :), exercising, eating out ALONE with Richard (did this yesterday as a matter of fact), giving the kiddos their baths and putting them to bed, sleeping
5 things you would never wear, get new or buy new again: I would never buy a movie. We now have a DVD burner. *gasp* I'd never wear anything from the 80's again unless I was dressing up for Halloween. I'd never buy a brand new computer with everything "top of the line" because Richard can build computers himself and save us $$$. I'll never buy a new car again unless I win the lottery. I would never buy any article of clothing that cost more than $100. I can't believe that I used to do that!

Bling, bling.....
Richard took me to the mall today. Well that was a big mistake. I thought we'd never get to the place and then once we were there, I thought we'd never make it out of there. It was a zoo!
We dropped the kids off at Mona's and went in search for a ring for me. Maeve's birthstone is a diamond and Kyra's is a pearl, so I'm looking for a very cute ring that combines the two. No such luck. I hate the gaudy pearl rings with the itty bitty diamonds on the side. So, I came up with the idea that I want to find a band that combines the two (alternating little diamonds and little pearls). I'm beginning to think that no such thing exists and that if I want something like that, we'll have to go the custom route. Ugh. We didn't buy a thing at the mall and I was so upset and frustrated when we left there. All was better when we went and ate at Serranos! LOL!
I did just come across my dream ring though. This is it:

How beautiful is this? Think I could win the lottery? ;)

Kyra funnies....
-This weekend Kyra told Richard that she wants to learn how to drive. She asked him if he'd teach her how. He said, "Yes, in about 12 years." LOL! I don't think she realizes how long 12 years is. This morning in the car, she mentioned it again. She said, "I really want to learn how to drive a car." We are in soooo much trouble.
-This morning, she drew her daddy a picture at the gym because "he was sick and throwed up last night." Lovely.
-She wants to leave cookies and chocolate milk out for Santa. She's never had chocolate milk before, so I thought that was kind of weird.
-She wakes up every morning and says, "Is it Christmas yet?" She's been doing this for the last month, so it's getting rather old. *sigh*
-She expects mail in the mailbox everyday for her. When there is none, she pouts. Boy will she be pleasantly surprised when she and her daddy get home this afternoon from running errands. There are cards from Grandma Debbie....one for her and one for Maeve. I didn't dare open them. That's her job.
-Maeve is now getting rather skilled at pulling Kyra's hair. Kyra says, "Stop it Maeve! You're hurting me!" I calmly tell Kyra that Maeve is just a baby and she doesn't know right from wrong yet. And so the sibling rivalry begins.....
-Kyra was playing a slot machine at Richard's boss's house last night. When she ran out of coins, she said, "I think this machine is broken!" LMAO! If she only knew.....

Christmas plans....
And so it begins. There's one week till Christmas. Let the hustle and bustle begin! LOL!
We went to Richard's Christmas party this evening. It was at his boss's house, which is just a neighborhood over here in Buda. Because Richard didn't make plans for someone to watch the girls, he suggested that we just go and take the girls for a while. We took two cars and I told him that if Maeve gets fussy, then we'd leave. Well, we got there around 3:30 and ended up staying till 6:30! Maeve was so good! Nobody even knew she was there! Kyra was in awe of the pinball machine and the slot machine that they had there. They were so well behaved! I was so proud of the both of them. Richard is still over there and I'm sure he's had a few brews. Good thing it'll take him like 2 minutes to get home!
As far as what we'll do for Christmas, here it goes. On Saturday morning (Christmas Eve), the BIG MAN will have paid a visit to the girls, so they'll open presents and then we'll head on out for La Grange later that afternoon to my sister's. We'll have Christmas there with my mom's side of the family and go to church. On Christmas Day, we'll head to Victoria! A first! We'll celebrate my dad's birthday at his house and open gifts between our immediate family. Then on the 26th, we'll head down to Austwell to see Richard's grandparents and celebrate with them and his mom, sister, and brother. We'll stay at my dad's that Monday night and then come back up here on Tuesday. WHEW! I'm going to rest up this week.
I've gotten everything wrapped except for a few things for the girls. I'll do that tonight. Then I'm waiting for two other things to come by mail either tomorrow or Tuesday. I want to plan what to cook this week and pack toward the end of the week. I want to relax and just hang out with the kiddos on Thursday and Friday. I hope that Maeve's 4th tooth peeks through soon so that she's sleeping like a baby again. *yawn*
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of my family and friends....old and new. I hope that you find time to reflect upon your blessings this week and find joy and peace in your heart.
I'm going to write a "Reflection '05" post soon. It'll be long. Get ready.
*yawn*

I hate the phone....
I'm sitting here waiting for the SOBs at Lillian Vernon to get to my call. I tried calling yesterday, but finally gave up after having to wait forever. I called initially and they said that my wait was 12 minutes. Fine. After 10 minutes went by, they said that my wait time was 10 minutes. Then another 10 minutes go by and they said that my wait time was 8 minutes. Good Lord! By the time they'd answer, it would have been midnight! I told Richard that they must have 1 person answering the phones. He said that they are just busy because of the holidays. It's just freakin ridiculous to sit on the phone this long. It reminds me of that episode of Friends where Phoebe waits till the next day! LOL!
I'm calling because I ordered something for my sister and it was never shipped. Things were shipped in separate packages, so I thought it would come. It never did. Then they charged my credit card for it. That REALLY ticked me off. So here I wait. This classical elevator crap is making me want to bang my head against a wall.
I told Richard that I'm going to take a shower and then coming back to my phone. It's on speaker. I bet they still haven't answered my call after another 15 minutes. Ugh.
Stupid, stupid holidays! ;)

Argh!
http://www.eurekareporter.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?ArticleID=6464
This article really ticks me off. OK, if you were sitting on a plane with nowhere to go, would you rather sit next to a screaming baby or one that was happily being nursed to sleep?
Some people are so stupid and uneducated.

Her creative mind strikes again....
She put sunglasses on a Santa ornament on the tree and begged me to come look. She said, "I told you that Santa put them there!" Uh huh. Sure he did. LOL! Then when I told her that I wanted to take a picture, she begged to be in it too! Look at that smirk on her face. It just screams, "Guilty as charged!" LOL!
Once again I must say that there is never a dull moment around this house.

One more thing....
Geez we've been busy today. Fussy too. So I checked in Maeve's mouth and sure enough, toofie #3 is here. It's the top front one. Lovely. Hope she doesn't hurt me. ;)
My Christmas angel.....
Kyra's Christmas program at school was today. I knew that I'd be going solo with Maeve in tow, so I was hoping for the best. Maeve and I grabbed a seat off to the side and surprisingly, she was entertained, so I grabbed the camcorder to video the entire thing. I had to stop a few times because she was grabbing the lense cap, but I got the important stuff. I also got some cute pics. I just had to post one. Everyone in Kyra's class got to choose what they wanted to be for the program. Kyra chose an angel. She did so good! She stood up there and sang and did the hand motions to the songs. I was so proud. I was such a sap as well and my eyes filled with tears. I kept thinking to myself, "That's my baby up there!" Where did the time go? Oh and notice the spaghetti sauce sleeves that she has! LOL! Guess what they had for lunch? ;) After the program, we got to go to the reception hall for all kinds of goodies and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to Baby Jesus. It was so sweet. Then we went back to her classroom to grab the motherload of goodies. Good thing her teacher put everything in a bag for me. I had Maeve with me, so I had my hands full already! I can't wait to show Richard the video when he wakes up this afternoon!
I heart my UPS man.....
I just love that guy. I don't know who he is, but God put him on this block for a reason! LOL! He must know that we have a baby in the house after I left the "Do not knock or ring doorbell, baby sleeping" sign on the front door over a month ago. He never knocked or rang the doorbell (unlike the other idiots that can't read) and just left the packages at the front door.
But guess what he does now? He leaves the packages at the SIDE DOOR so that when we get out of the car, we see them right there and can take them into the house! WOW! This also prevents Mia from seeing him at the front door and having her usual "barkfest". I feel like he really knows how we work around here. We never come in the front door anyway. We always come in the side door after getting out of the car. How does he know that? I guess it doesn't take a genius to figure it out, but I'm just grateful that he's so kind! :)
Now I'm thinking that he probably has kids and understands. I really need to bake him some Christmas cookies. After all, he deserves it after delivering all of the crap that Richard orders off of Ebay! LOL!

Not to be outdone....
This is where we find Mia most of the time....on our bed under the covers. I swear this dog is the laziest one on the planet. She sleeps with Richard during the day and with me at night. Last night, she was in her crate sleeping till I went to bed. Then she discovered that Richard's electric blanket was left on, so she went to lay on that. Whenever I wash my sheets and I get them out of the dryer, she lays on them too! The other day I told Kyra that Mia doesn't need anything for Christmas because it's Christmas everyday for her. I did have a horrible nightmare last night about something happening to her though. It really freaked me out. I was glad to find her under the covers....laying right next to me. Oh, and Richard took Maeve for walks in the jogging stroller two days this week and let Mia go along. Richard said that she does pretty well with a leash. He needs to take a picture of that because I still can't picture it. LOL!

Mr. Sandman......
I'm exhausted tonight. Richard put Kyra to bed at 8:00 (we've been trying to get her to go to bed earlier) and now I'm sitting here waiting for Maeve to fall asleep. Then I'm heading to bed myself. I bet my little Mia is already there waiting for me. I went on a wrapping rampage last night and wrapped a ton of gifts. I finished up at Walmart today, but have no desire whatsoever to wrap a single gift tonight. I like to "space" my wrappings so that I don't get burned out. I did put a few things in gift bags today, so I did accomplish something. What's funny is that Kyra woke up this morning and said, "Hey, there are more presents under the tree." LOL! That kid notices everything.....especially everything under a Christmas tree!
My house is a wreck, but I don't care. Sleep is more important. I'll clean up in the morning.
G'night! Zzzzzzzzzzzz.......

Well, we made it!
Megan and Mike's wedding was yesterday and we survived! LOL! Actually, the kiddos were so good. Kyra sat up front at church with Papoo and daddy and was quiet. Maeve and I opted for the cry room because she's Miss Screecher nowadays. Ugh.
Kyra rode with Papoo to the reception. She was a bit bored there at first, but immediately perked up when her cousins, William and Kalyn arrived. Maeve got to play with cousin Nadia. They are only separated by 3 months (Maeve is older). They stared at each other. It was cute. Julie is nursing Nadia as well, so we had lots to talk about.
The spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread were so good! The idea of having that served at the wedding was so cool! Kyra kept bringing me more pieces of cake. I don't know what that was all about. I only had one piece.
My Uncle Gary and Aunt Sandra led the grand march and did an awesome job! Was there ever a doubt? ;) I got plenty of great pics that I'll upload soon. By the end of the night, William even "lost" his first tooth! Actually, his mommy pulled it, but still! How exciting! I'm sure he got a visit from the tooth fairy last night.
We had a great time overall. The decorations were beautiful. Megan and Mike are so adorable and will make a great married couple and parents. Everyone loved dancing to the Dujka Brothers and the kids loved doing the chicken dance. Kyra and Kalyn went up to the stage screaming that request, so John and Mark had no choice but to play it. Then they played the Bunny Hop! OMG! That took me waaaaaay back.
We stayed at a motel in La Grange last night. My dad got us two rooms. Of course, Kyra wanted to stay with him, so she and my dad took one room, while Maeve, Richard, and I were in the other. I heard that Kyra fell asleep after her hiccups subsided around 11:00. Maeve went down right away too and only woke up to nurse at 5 this morning. Richard was up at 7 and I heard this tapping on the window. It was Mike and Megan. They stayed 4 doors down from us! Lovely. Richard went to my dad's room with Kyra and they talked while Maeve and I slept in till 9:30! Baby was tired! Maeve didn't nap much yesterday at all.....too much activity.
This afternoon, we went to Uncle Joe and Aunt Glenda's to watch Megan and Mike open their gifts (with a little help from Kyra, of course) and then came home. We got home around 2:30 before the Cowboys started.
What a weekend! I'm pooped. I'm hoping to get to bed a little earlier tonight and work out lots this week and get my shopping and gift wrapping done.

Bitter cold.....
Baby, it's cooooooold outside!
Geez, we were at 85 degrees on Saturday. WTF happened? ;)
I realize that the hot-cold-hot-cold is probably the reason why people get so sick this time of year. The damn weather can't make up its mind.
Richard left for work tonight and oh-so-conveniently forgot to let the faucets drip outside. So guess who assumed that duty? Grrrrrrr!
I get very nostalgic this time of year. I miss my Granny terribly. She would have already started her Christmas baking. Her Christmas card would be one of the first that we'd get. We'd be making plans to all be at her house on Christmas Eve. Some of us would go to church that evening and some of us would wait to go to midnight mass. We'd all gather in her itty bitty living room for our gift exchange.
I'm glad that Mike and Megan live in her house now. At least it's being taken care of. I wouldn't have it any other way. They will now have a family of their own in that house.
Speaking of Mike and Megan, their wedding is this weekend! We are so excited! Kyra wants to dance, dance, dance to the Dujka Brothers! YAY!
I just listened to a kick ass version of "Little Drummer Boy" by Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond. Sweet!
While we're at it, I have to wonder where the heck this year went. Good Lord. Maeve is 7 months old already! Richard was staring at her today and said, "I can't believe she's so big already." Yeah, me either. *sniff, sniff*
A few years ago while we were riding around looking at Christmas lights, I witnessed my first shooting star. May all of the stars shine bright for you this Christmas and may the magic of the season fill your heart with joy and love.

Billboard babble.....
So I'm sitting here watching the Billboard Music Awards and here are a few of my opinions:
1.) Will Mariah Carey ever wear an outfit that fits her? Good Lord. She gets bigger and her clothes get smaller. Ugh. I will never understand why my dear husband is so obsessed with her.
2.) I DO NOT understand the "talent" that is Ashlee Simpson. She sounds horrible. She looks like she has no idea what she's doing.
3.) Kevin Federline...aka K-Fed, is supposed to perform tonight. Lovely. Like that guy needs a bigger head. I hope everyone boos at him.
4.) Toby Keith looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Either he was drunk or stoned or he was having a bit of trouble with his earpiece. I don't like him anyway.
5.) I love how they throw in all of the Victoria's Secret commercials. And I say this sarcastically. Like I want to be reminded of what I don't and will never look like.
6.) LOL! R. Kelly is "playing" a guitar. WTF? At least he's not still "trapped in the closet".
7.) What was up with Gwen Stefani's outfit tonight? Girl used to dress so classy. Now she's just always in a bunch of rags just like the rest of them.
8.) I'm sure they'll be more to come. We've got another hour to go!

Everybody gotta get away sometime....
Today was one of those days that you wish you could savor forever.
I dropped Kyra off at school at 9 this morning and Maeve stayed with Richard. I headed for New Braunfels to see a friend of mine that I hadn't seen in over a year. I got to her house around 10 and we chatted for a while. We went to lunch at the lovely Huisache restaurant in New Braunfels. After that, we headed down to Gruene to do some shopping at all of the cool shops. What a beautiful place! I've been there lots of times, but there was something really neat about the atmosphere today. The weather was perfect and all of the Christmas decorations were beautiful. After that, we drove through Landa Park and headed back to her house. I left there a little after 4! WOW! An entire day full of ADULT conversation! I definitely needed it and I can't wait to do it again. Next time, I'll probably be done breastfeeding, so I'll definitely order that glass of wine. ;)
Richard took care of Maeve all day and picked Kyra up from school. Good daddy. :)

Walmart adventures....
You know this time of year it's always interesting to venture into Walmart and see what you'll come across.
First of all, EMERIL is going to be at our Walmart tomorrow evening! My mother-in-law would be here in a heartbeat if I told her. She LOVES him. I used to really like him, but lately he's such a cheeseball on his show that I quit watching it. I do, however, love the Food Network. I've just grown accustomed to some of the other personalities on that channel. And this is my favorite time of the year to watch it because of all the holiday food and decorating ideas. Last night, I watched a Gingerbread Championship. Damn I wanted to eat all those houses! LOL!
Anywho, I was laughing at the slew of gift cards they have at Walmart. They have one for every personality. There must be 30 different kinds. I just don't see the point though. OK, so Kyra gets a Disney Princess gift card from Walmart. She can't keep the darn thing. She has to take it to Walmart and use it. So then it's gone. What a waste. In my opinion, a gift card is a gift card. They all do the exact same thing. Ugh.
Walmart definitely isn't stupid. They have all sorts of ploys that work to make money. You go there shopping for a few things and end up with an entire basket full of stuff. They make everything readily available so that you don't have to shop anywhere else. I swear that adding a grocery store is the smartest thing that the store has ever done. People shop on one side of the store just to pick up the items that they'd normally get at Walmart and while they're there, they think, "I need to pick up some milk or bread...." and then they buy all of their groceries as well. Sure their prices are cheap, but that doesn't matter. You always end up spending over $100 anyway. Again, this is how they make their money. They are smart. We are stupid.
I have a rant about the checkout line though. Notice that they have those little turn-styles. When you check out, the cashiers bag your stuff and then turn it so that you can put the bags into your basket. I swear that the person that invented this is a wackjob. The person before me didn't check the entire turn-style before leaving, so guess what happened? Yes, she PAID for stuff that she bought and it got left there. Now this has happened to Richard before and he was TICKED OFF, so I know to make sure that I got all of my stuff. I came home today and told Richard about the lady in front of me and he said, "Well, you know that they just put those items back on the shelf and they've made a few extra bucks." Ok, so you take how many times that happens in a day and multiply it by all of the stores in the area and multiply that by all of the stores in the state and then multiply that by all of the stores in the country. Walmart is ripping all of us off! We are suckers!
I'm really beginning to think Walmart is evil. ;)

Warm and fuzzy....
We had such a great weekend.
On Saturday morning, I ran/walked on my treadmill. I haven't done that in a while. I've been busy teaching and taking other classes that I almost forgot my treadmill was out in Richard's room outside. Then Melissa called and we took Kyra and Jake to Budafest in the afternoon. They rode rides at the carnival, climbed on a firetruck, saw Santa, ate chocolate treats, and played on the playground. They had a blast!
On Sunday morning, the kiddos were up early, so Richard, Kyra, and I watched "Polar Express". Richard borrowed the DVD from a friend of his. Richard and Kyra went to see it on Tuesday at the IMAX theater, so Kyra knew everything about the movie and ruined a lot of parts for me. Grrrr! Richard is such a softy and cried at the end. He said that he wanted to cry at the theater but didn't for fear of being made fun of! Shhhh don't tell him that I blogged about that! LOL!
Kyra and I went to church and I wrapped a few gifts in the afternoon. I took a long shower and gave myself a pedicure this evening. It was nice.
I need more weekends like this one.

It's my turn....
10 Random things about me you may not know:
1.) I eat a salad everyday (or at least try to).
2.) I love watching the birthing shows on TLC and Discovery Health. There's just something magical about a baby coming into the world.
3.) I'm obsessed with grooming the girls....brushing hair, clipping nails, cleaning ears, etc. I must bathe them every night and soap them down so that they smell good.
4.) I can't stand when cabinets or closet doors are left open. It freaks me out.
5.) I read a book to Kyra every night and then we pray together.
6.) I love taking naps in the recliner. It reminds me of the newborn days with Maeve when she and I would cuddle for hours.
7.) I love the smell of cinnamon.
8.) I never had a dog before Mia.
9.) I get "sensory overload" very easily. I can't stand it when 2 tvs are on at the same time or the tv and the radio are on at the same time. When I talk on the phone, I must turn down the radio or tv.

What a waste of money.....
Starpulse reported that Britney Spears new son, Sean Preston, is to play the baby Jesus in his very own nativity scene this Christmas. The pop princess and husband Kevin Federline have transformed his bedroom into the nativity setting in celebration of his first festive holiday. The beautiful singer has splashed out on the lavish decorations that include six waxwork models and several life-size toy donkeys and cattle.
The 23-year-old singer is so excited about her first Christmas as a mom she has even bought a cherrywood style manger for her baby. A source close to the star is quoted by Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "It cost an absolute fortune. But at least she didn't have to buy a baby Jesus - because Sean is playing the part."

Something to remember at Christmas time....
According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December. Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.
Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.
We should've known. ONLY women would be able to drag a fat-ass man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

All I want for Christmas is....
A MASSAGE! The works! That's all I want. Period. Nothing else.
I have THE WORST sinus headache today. I took an hour and a half nap this afternoon and when I woke up, I still had a headache! Flippin allergies! Stupid mold!
I'm wondering if the massage would help to "loosen" things up. I bet it would. That alone would justify spending $70 to just make it all go away!
Think Richard would let me do it?

Real World Austin update.....
So I watched the Reunion Special tonight on MTV. Some things have changed and some not so much. First of all, they are still at odds with each other....possible more than ever. It got really ugly at some points.
It seems like they still all hate Lacey. Lacey is still with her boyfriend and at one point Nehemiah made a rude comment about him being "in a wheelchair". Very uncalled for.
Rachel is still with her boyfriend too. She looked like she's gained a little weight since the show.
Wes and Johanna are now boyfriend/girlfriend. That was a shocker. She didn't want to have anything to do with him on the show.
And the night before the special was taped in a "oh so convenient" manner, Danny proposed to Melinda in New York on a carriage ride and MTV got it all on tape. I *think* the jeweler even donated the ring for publicity on the show. I'm happy for them, but that's so cheesy! Come on! I guess they have no desire to leave the cameras behind. I'm sure they will get married on TV as well. Ugh.
Nehemiah and Danny REALLY got into it at the end. It was "bleep" after "bleep". More than anything, I think it's just this bitter jealousy that Nehemiah has toward everyone else on the show. His "woe is me" attitude was getting on my nerves.
So, there you have it. They are showing the "shit that you never saw" next week, so I'll be tuning in for that. I wonder what the "Real World You Never Saw" DVD will be like. I'm contemplating buying it just to see if they put the gym on it.

Favorite Things....
I've slowly but surely have become addicted to Body Step. I try to make classes on Mondays and Tuesdays when Richard is off and can keep Maeve. On Mondays, Kyra goes with me and on Tuesdays, I drop her off at school and then head to the gym. My goal in 2006 is to get certified so *I* can teach it. I swore that I'd stay away from the step for a while, but that never works. ;) I've been a stepper for years and really missed it after Maeve was born. It's nice to know that I can go back and teach it one day. Until then, I'll just take a lot of classes and keep teaching Flow.
I've gotten hooked on "Guiding Light" again. It's a soap opera that I've been watching on and off for years. Thanks to my mom, I always go back to it. She used to watch it when we were little kiddos. So I know all of the characters. Somehow I feel close to her when I watch it. It's weird.
Plus maybe this time of year just always brings back a ton of memories. I really do miss my loved ones during the holiday season. I also miss old friends that I've lost contact with and those that I don't hear from often enough (you know who you are). If I could just reconnect with just one person, it would totally make me happy.
Kyra has been so funny lately. I need to post some "Kyraisms" soon.

7 months!
Miss Maeve will be 7 months old tomorrow (Monday). Where did the time go? I was just looking at pics of her as a newborn as I was putting calendars for my dad and my MIL together for Christmas. She was so tiny! Now she's grown into this extremely energetic infant who is still very fond of mommy. She's getting her share of snuggles from daddy too though. I can't imagine my life without her and I'm so glad that God blessed me with another little girl.
We are still breastfeeding with no end in sight. It's a little harder now physically because Maeve is such an acrobatic nurser. She doesn't get distracted by the TV or lights....rather she's just a wiggle worm and doesn't want to sit still for long. Our nursing sessions are 5-10 minutes tops. Then she's done. She's not a child that likes to fall asleep on the boob either. She'd rather be put in her crib and left alone.
As I look back over these 7 months, I can't believe that we are still nursing. It's amazing. It's something that I'm very proud of because I didn't do it with Kyra and I was determined to make it work this time around. Richard is proud of the fact that we haven't had to buy one ounce of formula. I'm proud of the fact that I've given her the best start in life and hope that I can still squeeze a few more months of nursing out of her yet. It's really just more than nutrition. It's a wonderful bonding experience that I will never forget. The next time I see a mom nursing in public, I'm going to stop and say, "What a wonderful thing you are doing for your baby." They need that encouragement. In a society that frowns upon nursing in public, it's very important to encourage mothers to nurse their babies whenever and whereever they please. I truly hope that one day nursing is not regarded as "gross" and "uncalled for". I think if people were a little more educated about the many benefits, they would change their tune.
I watched a documentary today about a child that was born without a face. The little girl was adorable and stole my heart. She's going to endure many surgeries throughout her life. I pray that God gives her and her family strength. She was such a cutie and very smart too! That show made me realize how lucky I really am. All of my "problems" seem so small.
Hug those you love tonight. I know I will.

We are sooooo screwed......
I keep telling Richard that we are screwed. Maeve is now getting up on her hands and knees and rocking back and forth. I'm pretty sure that she'll be crawling by Christmas. Right now, she gets up on her hands and knees and scoots backwards. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before she learns to move forward. I told Kyra to get ready to hide her stuff! LOL!
Maeve also has a temper like none I've ever seen. Scratch that. I do know someone who has a temper like that. His name is Richard. She definitely takes after daddy and will probably give us more than a few gray hairs over the years. She does not want to be still. She wiggles at changing time and doesn't want to be put down anywhere. Her favorite position is when we hold her so she can stand. She's all smiles and laughter then! I just wish I could remember if Kyra was the same way when she was this age. I'm trying not to worry about it, but you have to wonder if this is your "wild kid" or if it's just a stage.
Oh the joys of parenthood!

Yeah, I'm never doing this again....
So I'm very sleep deprived right now. Maeve will not nap or sleep at night. It's now almost 4:30am and she's been up TWICE since midnight. Um, that's when I finally put Kyra in her bed because I was tired of hearing her snore and couldn't sleep. I'm VERY tired. I'm almost resentful of Richard getting to sleep during the day.....uninterrupted.
Every once in a while, I get this feeling of "Oh my gosh, I'm never going to have another baby. It's sad." But then I have nights like this and I'm very happy that we are done. I'm very content and look forward to the day (or in this case, night) when I can get a full night's rest again. I keep telling myself, "this too shall pass....", but Kyra and Maeve are two different people. I'm scared that I won't do the exact same things with Maeve and she'll end up being a horrible sleeper. I honestly think that we will have to let her "cry it out" at some point. The more we comfort her at night, the angrier she gets. I know this sounds strange, but it's true. Some kids are just different. Kyra wanted total silence when she was an infant. Maeve wants noise....lots of it.
I pray that God lets me have a few hours of sleep. I really need it if I'm going to function tomorrow (today).

Hmph....Men!
Dads React to Nighttime Crying By Pretending to Sleep
"More than one-half of British fathers react to their infants' nighttime crying by either continuing or pretending to sleep, according to a recent survey conducted by Mother and Baby magazine in the United Kingdom. While 52 percent of fathers do not get up in the middle of the night to care for their children, an additional 22 percent get up only after their partner has gotten out of bed to tend to the baby. As a result, six out of 10 mothers reported feeling resentful toward their partners."

Poor Santa....
'Twas the night before Christmas--Old Santa was pissed.
He cussed out the elves and threw down his list.
Miserable little brats, ungrateful little jerks.
I have a good mind to scrap the whole works!
I've busted my ass for damn near a year,
Instead of "Thanks Santa"--what do I hear?
The old lady bitches cause I work late at night.
The elves want more money--The reindeer all fight.
Rudolph got drunk and goosed all the maids.
Donner is pregnant and Vixen has AIDS.
And just when I thought that things would get better
Those assholes from the IRS sent me a letter,
They say I owe taxes--if that ain't damn funny
Who the hell ever sent Santa Claus any money?
And the kids these days--they all are the pits
They want the impossible--Those mean little shits
I spent a whole year making wagons and sleds
Assembling dolls...Their arms, legs and heads
I made a ton of yo yo's--No request for them,
They want computers and robots...they think - I'm IBM!
Flying through the air...dodging the trees
Falling down chimneys and skinning my knees
I'm quitting this job there's just no enjoyment
I'll sit on my fat ass and draw unemployment.
There's no Christmas this year now you know the reason,
I found me a blonde. I'm going SOUTH for the season!"

"But I'm only 4 years old......"
I have been begging Kyra to clean out her closet. Actually *I'm* the one that will do all of the chunking....I just want her to straighten it up so I can at least walk in it to hang up clothes. For those that don't know, Kyra has a small room and there's a queen sized bed in her room, so all of her toys are in her closet on shelves. This little set-up works well because she makes such a darn mess and all I have to do is close the doors and her room is "clean". That's fine till I can't stand it anymore. Right now, I'm at that point. I've told her that Santa will not bring new toys till we get rid of some of the old ones.
So today I ask her again if she will clean her closet and she says, "But mommy, I'm only 4 years old. I'm too young to do it." Um, sure. I responded by saying, "Well I'm 28 and I'm too darn old to do it, so you have to do it." Then I chuckled to myself. I'm sooooo turning into my own mother. I swore that I would never do things like dress my kids the same and bribe them to do stuff. And what do you know....here I am doing just that.
One day Kyra and Maeve will have kids that will make huge messes. Then they'll understand. And what's worse, they will have turned into ME! LOL! ;)

My husband, the "thief".....
Richard went to Lowes this morning because we got an ad in the mail the other day advertising $25 pre-lit Christmas trees for Friday only. I've been wanting a pre-lit tree for a while now. I hate putting the lights on a tree. It's such a hassle and usually Richard and I end up in a fight over it.
Richard comes home around 7:30 after he got off of work. HE GOT A TREE! THE LAST ONE! Here's the story behind it. He said that he walked in and there were people everywhere. He looked for that particular tree because it was 6.5 feet and he knew that it was marked down to $25. He didn't see one on the shelf. But guess where he found one? In a cart! He said it was all alone and "hidden"....like someone hadn't made up their mind about it and didn't want it "gone" while they looked for other trees. Richard stepped up to that cart and looked to his right and then looked to his left and didn't see anyone that gave him the evil eye, so he walked off with the cart! LOL!
It's now almost 10:00am and we have a tree up with lights and tinsel. When Maeve wakes up later, we'll put all of the ornaments on it. I'm so thrilled to have a smaller tree too. I can actually reach the top of it without standing on a stool! Kyra is so into decorating and is so excited to be putting it all up today.
I never shop on "Black Friday", but I guess getting the ad in the mail and having Richard check out the store this morning wasn't such a bad thing. And it was Lowes....it's not like I sent him to the mall at 5am with all of the other lunatics.

Risky Business....
Tom Cruise makes me sick. I really can't believe that I ever had a crush on the guy. He's a creep and a weirdo.
His latest purchase is a sonogram machine so that he can view his baby with Katie Holmes at any time that he pleases. Someone needs to tell Tom that too many sonograms can be harmful to the baby. Word on the street is that when she gives birth, he's going to "donate" it to a hospital. Yeah right. You'll just keep it for your next "alien" kid.
Then he said in an interview that Katie doesn't have to be "silent" during the birth, but just "quiet". Yeah like that's any better. I really hope that Katie poops all over him during the delivery and squeezes the shit out of his balls to help cope with the pain. He said that he just wants things to be "comfortable" for her. Uh huh. Take the girl to a hospital and let her have an epidural and then she might be comfortable. Poor girl. She has no idea what she's in for.
Oh, and now he's saying that they won't marry till at least summer or fall of next year because Katie wants to have the "fairytale wedding" without having to wear a maternity wedding dress. I guess that this is a good thing because hopefully by then Katie will have come to her senses and realize what a moron this dude is. I know that her Catholic parents must be so disappointed, but at least there are no strings attached (well except for a little alien).
And all of these Scientology creeps that have to "chaperone" Katie 24/7 are getting on my nerves. Leave the poor girl alone and at least allow her to get photographed solo.
I have 3 words for her: "RUN Katie RUN!"

Something in the water....
Babies everywhere! It seems like I have a ton of friends and family members that have recently had babies or are expecting! WOW!
-My friend Krishna and her husband Richard had a little girl, Avery, in the beginning of October.
-My friend Anna is due with a little girl around Christmas. She and Jeff are naming her Jocelyn (I think). ;)
-My friend Emily is due in mid-January with a boy. She and Kent are naming him Timothy (again, I think).
-My cousins Roxie and Darren are due at the beginning of February and it's a surprise!
-AND today I found out that my cousin Megan and my cousin-to-be Mike are expecting as well! I'm so excited!
Do I know you? Chances are you could be pregnant next! LOL! ;)

Weekend woes....
It wasn't all bad, so I'll hit up the good things first.
-Jen came to visit on Saturday and brought the girls some cute stuffed puppies. Thanks Jen! Kyra is carrying hers everywhere. Thanks for a great visit as well!
-My dad came on Sunday. He kept Kyra busy all day. She adores him. She even got him to play on the computer with her which was hilarious. My dad has never even looked at a computer.
OK, now for the woes:
-Kyra woke up at 5 on Saturday morning. Maeve woke up at 6. *yawn*
-Kyra's allergies are really bothering her. This morning (Monday), she threw up a lot of mucous at 5:30. So once again, she was up early. Maeve followed around 6. When will these kids sleep past 7:00 again?

Do your flippin job!
A month ago, I called my OB office to let them know that I was running out of the samples of Zoloft that they had given me and they needed to fax over a script to the pharmacy. Weeks went by and I never called and checked to see if the script was there. I still had some samples left. Yesterday, I called the pharmacy to see if the script ever made it there. Nope, it didn't. So, I call the OB office and they say, "We'll fax it right over right now." So today I call the pharmacy and guess what? They *still* have NOTHING.
Is it that damn hard to do your job? All it takes is a freakin fax machine! Two seconds! Ugh. I hate calling the doctor's office and gently reminding them that it's not over there. That's not my job. I don't get paid for being the 3rd party. Ugh.
I'm waiting till 2:00 when they re-open after lunch and then I'm letting them have it!

And in celebrity news.....
I don't know why I bother reading trash about all of these people, but it's like a bad train wreck.....you just can't look away.
Britney/Kevin- So K-Fed has been out partying ever since little Sean (aka Cheeto) was born. I think that Brit's getting ready to kick him to the curb. Rumor has it that Kevin and his ex planned his little rendevous with Britney a long time ago so that they could get $$$ when things didn't work out and a divorce ensued. I guess Kevin might go back to his ex. He was also caught dancing....no wait....bumping and grinding at a club with Ashlee Simpson. Gross. There was also a rumor going around that Britney checked herself into the Four Seasons Hotel on the same day that none other than Justin Timberlake did. Guess Brit wanted him to meet little Cheeto without a huge visit from the paparazzi.
Tomkat-These two really freak me out. He looks old enough to be her daddy. A few weeks ago, we saw pics of her with this HUGE belly. Lately, the belly has magically gotten smaller. Hmmmm..... Now they are saying that she miscarried. Either that or she got tired of wearing the pillow under her shirt. Someone said that the "War of the Worlds" comes out on DVD next week. These two will do anything for publicity. Even Oprah admitted on her Monday 20th Anniversary show that when Tom jumped on her couch that she thought that he was "gone" and that it was all a "ploy" for publicity. DUH!
Tidbits:
-I don't get all of the hoopla surrounding Lindsay Lohan. I think she's ugly.
-Please let there be just one day where Paris Hilton isn't in the news.
-Nicole Richie needs to gain some weight. She's a walking corpse.
-Matthew McConaughey is the "Sexiest Man Alive". Oh yeah!
-After watching the Johnny Cash special on TV last night, I'm 100% in love with Joaquin Phoenix. I HAVE to see that movie!

This n' that....
Richard came home from work with a large peppermint hot chocolate from Starbucks just for little ol me. Awww....he was thinking of me on this cold morning. I almost didn't want to drink it because the scale HAS NOT been nice lately. But, I drank it anyway and thanked him for it.
Maeve now knows what to do to get mommy's attention. She "fake" coughs or she'll start panting like a dog. It's annoying, but pretty darn cute too. My little drama queen.
I'm really wondering why dogs sleep all the time. Jen, do you know? I swear that Mia sleeps 23 out of the 24 hours in a day. She's a lazy a$$ dog.
I went to the doctor today to have him check my ears. One has been throbbing from time to time. Turns out that the ear is fine. I am having bad sinus troubles right now. He wanted to prescribe me something, but stopped dead in his tracks when I told him that I was breastfeeding. I told him that as long as it wasn't an ear infection that I could put up with it. He also commended me on losing a lot of weight since the last time I was there. Um, newsflash: I HAD A BABY! I honestly think that he thought that my pregnancy weight was my pre-pregnancy weight and that I lost from there. Yeah right. Dude, I have a loooooong way to go.
This chick on the Food Network is massaging a turkey and she looks like she's enjoying it a little too much. Ewwwwwwww!
I think I have found someone that has more of a leash on Richard than I do. Her name is Kyra.

Can't you read?
I specifically put a sign on our door today saying, "Please DO NOT ring doorbell OR knock on door. Baby sleeping." This was for the UPS man because we are expecting several deliveries this week. Our UPS man is cool, so I figured that he'd have no problem reading the sign and abiding by it. Those of you that have been to our house know that Maeve's room is right around the corner from the front door.
Anyway, I get home from teaching around 2 and Maeve is napping and I'm sitting here at the computer *thinking* that I'm hearing someone knock at the door. Sure enough, I look out the peephole and it's the same black guy that knocks on the door every freakin week. I don't answer. He knocks again.....this time louder. I still don't answer. Then he's BANGING on the door and by this time, Mia hears it and she's having her usual heart attack when someone is at the door. I still don't answer it and he goes away.
So did my sign that was taped to the door fall off? Nope. It's still there. And conveniently, Maeve is now awake as well as a result of the banging and the dog barking. Lovely. There goes the first 45 minutes of her afternoon nap. It's going to take me FOREVER to get her to go back down.
My blood was boiling. I put that on the door this morning in hopes that we'd get an uninterrupted day. Couldn't this guy read? If not, then he has no business going from door to door trying to sell whatever it is that he's selling. I see him in the neighborhood....walking and waving to people like he's in a flippin parade. Richard thinks that he's just begging for money. I don't care. I won't answer the door for anyone unless I know them.
I have had the occasional desire to answer the door with a baby hanging on a boob though. I bet that would make them never want to come to the door again.

Reasons to be happy.....
Things are going pretty well this week thus far. I just don't want to jinx it. I'm happy because:
-Maeve is FINALLY over her cold (flippin doctors' offices).
-I get to go to my favorite step class in the morning.
-We are getting lots of company this week! Anna is coming over tomorrow, Jen is coming on Saturday and my dad is coming on Sunday! WOOOHOOO!
-I'm slowly, but surely getting all of my Christmas shopping done online.
-We aren't going anywhere for Thanksgiving. I could be bummed, but I'm not. I would dread packing for 2 kids and travelling by myself with them (Richard has to work). So, we'll just hang out here and watch the parades that morning.
-Kyra started singing the jingle to the local radio station (KVET) this morning. Clearly, we listen to too much radio in the car. But it was funny to hear her singing!
-Richard is pretty close to winning the football pool tonight. Come on $70! Mama needs a night out on the town!
-A COLD FRONT is coming in the morning! It will FINALLY feel like Fall around here!

Tales of the gym and the mall.....
I took Kyra with me to the gym this morning. We went to a different one than we normally go to, so she was quite unfamiliar with it. I wasn't worried though. I figured she'd be fine. I went to work out upstairs on the cardio equipment and I could see her from above. She was so cute. See, Kyra is very shy and very sensitive and doesn't approach kiddos that easily. If they approach her, she's fine. She'll play with them and talk nonstop. It was sort of sad seeing her having a tough time approaching kiddos. I could tell that she wanted to play with the other girls, but she just didn't have the guts to go up to them. I've noticed that she still "parallel plays" in that she'll play by other kids, but not with them. School is a totally different story though. She has her friends and she interacts, mingles, holds hands, etc. She even learned more names this week! I'm so proud of her!
Then we headed to the mall. The first thing that we notice are the huge, elaborate Christmas decorations. Then we see none other than Santa himself. Goodness. Looks like Santa might just be making an appearance on the 4th of July one of these years. How early does he arrive? I remember when he would arrive after Thanksgiving. Boy times have changed. Kyra begged to sit on his lap, but I told her that Maeve would be very upset if we forgot about her. She understood. Besides, I want to dress the girls in matching shirts and take them. I'm hoping to get them in there soon because it's going to be a madhouse after Thanksgiving. Plus, Maeve still does pretty well with strangers which is another reason we need to go soon. Maybe I'll take them next week.

Me, the Nurturer....
Try this personality test:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/
mind/surveys/whatamilike/index.shtml
Here are my results:
Your answers suggest you are a Nurturer
The four aspects that make up this personality type are: planner, facts, hearts, introvert
Summary of Nurturers
Care for the important people in their lives
Strive for harmony and avoid confrontation
Think of themselves as gentle, conscientious, and mature
May have trouble making decisions that could hurt others
More about Nurturers
Nurturers are quiet people who believe in order and diligently look after the people they care about. They focus on the needs of others and establish routines to help them meet their commitments.
Nurturers are the most likely group to say they prefer a job where the same thing happens every day, according to a UK survey.
Nurturers remember details that are important to them, such as their friends' birthdays and anniversaries. People with this personality type value others' feelings and may challenge behaviour they think is insensitive.
In situations where they can't use their talents or are unappreciated, Nurturers may feel bitter and seek support by complaining to their colleagues. Under extreme stress, Nurturers may become preoccupied with the worst possible outcome and believe that they are heading for disaster.
Because they are so caring and loyal, Nurturers run the risk of being taken advantage of.
Nurturer Careers
Nurturers are often drawn to jobs that allow them to help others.
It's important to remember that no survey can predict personality type with 100 percent accuracy. Experts say that we should use personality type to better understand ourselves and others, but shouldn't feel restricted by our results.

Food for thought....
Crap. The holiday season really is around the corner. The entire downtown area is adorned with decorations and today I saw huge wreaths being hung on all of the bank buildings. *sigh* I'm really not ready this year.
I just realized that the Christmas tree will have to go up soon. This *could* be a good thing because Maeve is so clingy to me and perhaps this will provide some entertainment for her. OR this *could* be a bad thing because it just might give her more incentive to become mobile. Let's pray that doesn't happen. I'm not ready for that either.
Tonight Kyra prayed for ladies, daddies, fans, lamps, doors, and children. I love that kid. She's strange, but I love her.
I was in the car and listening to the radio and heard that a certain station is a mix of the 80's and 90's. I started pondering what we'd call this decade when it's over with. The "zeros"? LOL! Anybody got better ideas?
I absolutely cannot stand roadkill. When I drive by it, I look away or close my eyes for a second. That really can't be good when you're driving.
I hate the scale.
I cracked up laughing last night when Richard was imitating his late grandfather. It was so funny. (Shhhhh don't tell him, but Richard reminds me more of his grandfather everyday.....his grandfather's name was also Richard!)
Did I mention that I hate the scale?
If one more person comes to the door and rings the doorbell during Maeve's nap, I'm going to open the door and spit fire at them. I'm NOT kidding. I guess I'll have to make my "Don't knock or ring doorbell....baby sleeping" signs again. Not that they know how to read.
I wonder how many trees could be saved by obliterating all of the junk mail. I swear that's all that's in my mailbox these days.
Where is the cooler weather? I'm sick of running the a/c in November and I'm itching to dress the girls in their fall/winter attire!

I'm in "Photograph"
If you read a blog entry below, you'll see that I like Nickelback's "Photograph". And well what do you know? My name is in the song! Here's the verse:
Kim’s the first girl I kissed
I was so nervous that I nearly missed
She’s had a couple of kids since then
I haven’t seen her since God knows when
Now there's even more reason to like that song!
Oh and by the way, I bet that song will be "the song" for the Class of 2006. The rest of the lyrics have "high school" written all over it.

Mixed feelings....
For some strange reason it hit me today that Maeve is 1/2 year old. I started thinking about the amazing development that happens to a baby during their first year of life. It's really mind boggling. To think that they go from this tiny, innocent being to this free-spirited, extremely energetic toddler in a year's time is nothing short of a miracle. They say that you will never "learn" that much so quickly ever again in your lifetime. I believe it. Time flies. Soon she'll be talking and walking and whining like her sister does. ;)
Speaking of sisters, Kyra is freakin hilarious at bedtime. We have a routine where she potties and I help her brush her teeth. I read her a book and then she says her "own" prayer. This prayer has become a long, drawn out one where we pray for everyone and their dog. I love hearing her pray because: #1) I just love hearing her little voice speaking in this cute, yet soft tone and #2) You never know what she's going to pray for. The last few nights, she has prayed for things like doors, space aliens, "stuff", the lights, clothes....I just get such a kick out of hearing her come up with the most random things.
Oh, and if you're reading this blog and also have a 4 year old (you know who you are), please tell me that your kid BEGS for food as much as mine does! I swear that Kyra could eat all day long. It's NOT a growth spurt......this is just how she is. She'd eat me out of the house if she could! I often wonder if she ever gets full! Oh and Alien, I too wonder if I will ever be able to eat in peace again. Some day......
Kenny Chesney has a new CD out today. One of Randy Rogers' songs is on it. I'm not too sure how I feel about that. I'm happy that someone came along and noticed how much of a talent Randy is and how his songwriting is nothing short of amazing. I know that the CD will do well and that Randy will be reaping the benefits. BUT having said all that, I feel a little sad that Nashville has picked up on our "Texas Music scene".....like it was "our little secret" or something. I also hope that Randy gets all of the credit that he deserves if "Somebody Take Me Home" becomes a huge hit. I'd hate to think that people would like to give KC all of the credit for that song. Sure he recorded it, but Randy wrote it and recorded it first!
OK, I MUST go to bed now. Tomorrow is another day......

*sigh*
-There's a house in our neighborhood fully decorated with Christmas lights. *sigh*
-Maeve is congested and I hate seeing my baby so miserable. *sigh*
-I went to a baby shower today and there was a lady there talking about how she just bought her daughter her 1st bra. *sigh* I'm so not ready for those days.
-Um, it's 80 degrees in early November. *sigh* Where is Fall?
-I'm really hooked on "Grey's Anatomy". Sundays are usually pretty busy around here though and Richard doesn't like to watch it. *sigh* I wish it were on on Wednesdays when he's at work.
-I told Kyra that I want to be a Grandma one day. She got really upset and told me that she "doesn't want me to be a Grandma because then I won't be her Mommy." *sigh* She really doesn't quite understand that concept yet. I'll always be her Mommy. :)

Let the countdown begin.....
I went to the grocery store today and noticed that the "seasonal" aisle is now in transition. The candy corn is now being replaced with candy canes. Wrapping paper is starting to take on a look that reflects that all important day in December. The card aisle contains colors of red and green. Yep, it's coming folks.
There are a few important things that I must do this year. #1 is to make/find Maeve a stocking. Since our local mall is now full of the fancy, schmancy stores, I doubt that there will be a Christmas store this year. That sucks. I'm almost 99.9% sure that I'll have to make one on my own. Heck, I'll head on over to Hobby Lobby and find a stocking, some glitter, and some glue and get Kyra in on the "arts and crafts" project. She'll love that. #2 is that I must get Maeve a "1st Christmas" ornament. I got one for Kyra and it has her little picture in it. So it's only right to have one of her sister adorning the tree this year.
Ahhhh...the Christmas tree. That should be fun this year. See at Christmas, I'll have an 8 month old. I have a feeling that mobility with strike with Maeve right around the same time. Lovely. I guess since I've survived Christmases with Mia and Kyra, I'll survive this one too with Maeve. Hopefully all will go smoothly without a trip to the ER.
I have VOWED to myself that I would do ALL of my Christmas shopping online this year. So, I'm starting this week. I got on the Old Navy site tonight, but it kept wigging out on me. Turns out that they are doing some site maintenance right now. Geez. Of all freakin nights! I want to shop NOW! I want the bargains NOW!
I can't wait to take the girls to see Santa. Kyra will be thrilled. I just can't wait to see what Maeve does. She really doesn't have that "stranger anxiety" yet. I bet it'll hit soon though....just in time for pics with Santa. I can see it now. I'll have one kid that's giddy beyond words and one that's screaming her head off! LOL!

Weekend highlights....
-Went to Megan and Mike's Couples' Shower on Saturday. Had a good time with family and friends and ate some delicious stew prepared (I think) by my BIL Nathan. Good job buddy!
-Stayed at Lisa and Nathan's house on Saturday night while they stayed down the street at Joe and Glenda's (because they knew they were going to get in late). We got back to their house from the shower and poor Calli (their Yorkie) was still sick, so Richard spent a chunk of the evening and night cleaning up poop (sorry TMI) and bathing the poor dog.
-Noticed on Saturday evening that toofie #2 had popped through. Poor kid. 2 toofies in 2 days=miserable baby.
-Despite the toofies, Maeve slept through the night on Saturday night (probably because she was exhausted) and I was pretty eager (read: in pain!) to feed her on Sunday morning. Too bad Maeve's little internal clock wasn't in sync with the new time because she awoke at 5:30 am. Soon after that, Kyra woke up. *yawn*
-I did manage to sneak in a long nap yesterday afternoon. Lisa and Nathan have quite a comfortable bed because that's not the first time that I've napped really well in that bed.
-Lisa helped me make a Christmas gift. Yep, that's one down and about 15 to go. *sigh*
-I watched parts of Grey's Anatomy with Lisa and Nathan last night (we stayed there on Sunday night too and came back this morning). It was apparently too much for Richard because he left the room and went to bed. LOL!
-Took another LONG nap this afternoon before the thunderstorm hit. Can I just say how great that was? Ahhhhhh......
-Richard took Kyra to the library this afternoon AND took her trick or treating this evening. He's such a good daddy.

Come on down!
I went to the gym yesterday and walked/ran on the treadmill. I actually walked for about 25 minutes and ran for about 15 minutes (the running part I'm very proud of....haven't ran since right after I found out I was pregnant with Maeve). Anyway, Price Is Right was on, so I thought I'd watch it. I haven't watched that show in years. Not much has changed though. Bob Barker is still the host and I assume that he'll host the show till he meet his Maker. I do worry a bit about his ticker when these people tug and pull on him and jump around like they've won the lottery. But I'm betting he's pretty used to that by now.
One thing I did notice was that ALL of the people that were initially in contestant's row ALL had homemade Bob Barker/Price Is Right t-shirts on. I guess that ups their chances of making it to the stage. They have to do some sort of screening process though. I highly doubt that they just "randomly" pick people. I'm sure that they pick the people that fit the bill for good TV.
Oh and I'm wondering if they play "Plinko" on every show or just one time a week. The crowd went nuts like the biggest rock star stepped out on stage. I did feel sorry for the lady that played the game though. She won 5 Plinko chips and every one of them landed in the "O" slot except the last one. She ended up with $500. So much for $50,000 Plinko.
One game that I'd love to go on is Wheel of Fortune. I've gotten a lot of the bonus round puzzles when the people haven't. I find myself YELLING at the TV and ticked off when they don't guess it within those 10 seconds. Ugh. Plus you have the opportunity to win a heck of a lot more money on there than you do on the Price Is Right.
The funniest game show out there was Press Your Luck. Remember the whammies? LOL!

We have a toofie!
I put a finger in Maeve's mouth this afternoon and noticed something above the gumline. Yep, she cut a tooth! WOW! She doesn't seem all that bothered by it, but she won't nap today. *sigh*
My baby is 6 months old tomorrow. *sniff, sniff*
Kyra had her Noah's Ark Halloween carnival at school today. She came home with the motherload of goodies. I can't believe how much stuff she got! She had fun and said they got to play a lot of games (which is right up her alley).
Overall it's been a good day (so far). We'll just see how tonight goes. ;)

The good life....
Life has been kind of hectic and a little rough lately. So, I thought instead of being negative, I'd post a few positive things that I'm thankful for.
1.) Fall is here! I just love that cool, crisp smell that's in the air right now. The weather was gorgeous today!
2.) Kids are healthy. Granted Maeve is up several times a night, but she's fine. She's thriving. She's laughing at me in the middle of the night. *yawn* But she's fine. Kyra never ceases to amaze me. I swear that kid is wise beyond her years. Some of the things that come out of her mouth just floor me.
3.) I've had more time for working out and that alone has improved my mood.
4.) We are going out of town this weekend! I need to get away and see some family!
5.) I made some $$$ at the consignment shop today, so I turned around and bought some clothing for the kiddos and only owed $4! YIPPEEEE!
6.) I calmly asked Richard if he would be so kind as to pick me up my favorite beverage on his way home from work this week. It's a peppermint hot chocolate from none other than Starbucks! He said, "Sure!" YUMMMMM!
7.) House is quiet. Ahhhhh.....
8.) My sister is finally going to show me how she makes those cute blankets by taking two pieces of fleece fabric and tying them together. That's going to be a weekend project and I can't wait!
9.) The Bill Miller's down the road is almost complete. I'm gonna get me some BBQ!
10.) The Astros are in the World Series. Now they just gotta win some games!

The Material Girl
I watched the last half of a documentary on Madonna on Friday night on MTV. It was called, "I've Got A Secret" and it showcased her recent concert tour. Honestly, nothing "wowed" me about her at all. Is anybody else under the impression that Madonna is trying to revive her youth? She was up there singing her hits like, "Holiday" and "Like A Prayer". I honestly thought that she did an interview where she said that she didn't like all of those songs. I guess they were before her "reinventing" stage. I think her age is starting to show too. Maybe that's why the entire show was in black and white (or maybe it was shown that way because it was a documentary....who knows).
Another thing that bothered me was that they showed her kids a lot. They showed Lourdes teaching her mom phrases in French. Yeah, we get that you pay top dollar for this kid to know 5 different languages. Madonna also was laying on the bed with Rocco and she asked him, "Who's the queen, Rocco?" He said, "You are mommy!" Gag.
And what is name anyway? Is it Madonna? Esther? Madge? I swear she's always in an identity crisis. Or maybe it's the media that loves to give her different names for their notoriety. Who knows.
I just think that her 15 minutes were up a long time ago.

The need for speed....
Kyra and I went to the grocery store this evening. We walked in and I saw that there was virtually NOBODY in the checkout lanes. GREAT! We got 3, yes, 3 items. We get back to the checkout lanes and there's people everywhere! Isn't that strange? I swear it was a matter of about 1o minutes and all lanes were full!
One of the lanes had a sign by the number that said, "Fastest Checker In An Hour". I'm not kidding. As one would guess, yep, there were a TON of people in that guy's line.
First of all, how do you determine that one is the "fastest checker"? Is there someone standing there taking note? Do the computers tell them how many customers they check out in an hour?
Second, I would NEVER want to be known as "the fastest checker". What pressure! Dude has this long line and you know that people are standing there thinking, "This guy is slower than molasses!" I'm just wondering how long he got to keep that title. LOL!
Ahhhh....the joys of going to the grocery store on a Saturday night. There's nothing like it. ;)
